Thomas Tallis Concert
The Tallis Concert
takes place on
Saturday 10th May 2008
in
the Dover College Refectory.
The concert is part of the 2008 Festival of Dover and will be performed by a choir under the direction of David Flood, director of music at Canterbury Cathedral.
The setting was chosen as it is a building that still exists from the old Dover Priory where Tallis was appointed organist in 1532.
The concert will highlight a part of Dover’s history and heritage and re-establish the link between the town and one of the world’s foremost composers of choral music.
David Flood has invited 40 singers to perform the music by Thomas Tallis. These singers comprise Cathedral choristers as well as personal friends of David’s including a number of professional singers, amongst whom are a baritone who has sung with Glyndebourne Opera and a soprano from the Societa Pieta di Antonio Vivialdi.
