Welcome to the Festival!
How many times have you read the local paper and thought, or been talking to someone who said 'That sounded great, I would have gone if I'd known it was on'.
There is a great deal going on in Dover, if you could just find out about it. There are hundreds of groups meeting, working, creating, performing MAKING THINGS HAPPEN. The problem is that, most of them do not have vast budgets to advertise their meetings or events and so, sadly, many are not attended as well as they could be, this is discouraging to the people who are trying to organise such things.
The Town Council is keenly aware of this problem therefore they have agreed to act as a facilitator in order to help bring such groups together and advertise these events. The Council have contributed officer time, meeting facilities, financial support in grants and advertising and the 'logo' competition which should be becoming more familiar to townspeople as the year goes on.
Unlike some festivals, this is not just going to last a week or a fortnight, it's all year long ! The calendar being collated and financed by the Town Council, along with a website for the Festival will be the one stop shop for meetings, performances and events in an around Dover for the whole year.
The Town Council is also funding several events during the year, so in addition to all the things that normally go on - Regatta, Carnival, Fetes, Guided Walks, Musical and Choral performances, Lights Switch on, dramatic performances, Christmas Cheer Extravaganza, Hellfire Corner et al.., there is to be a Horticultural weekend, a chess tournament and an International Kiting event.
No matter how small your group is, if you want people to come to your meetings and be involved this is an opportunity for you to reach thousands of people. If you have an event you wish to advertise via the website and calendar, let us know !
